These are stock counts and mathematical illustrations for one dealership on one date. They are not a UK market index and should not be used to infer approval rates or personalised borrowing costs.

Methodology

Each vehicle used its advertised price on 6 September 2026, a 60-month term and 12.9% representative APR. A £250 illustrative deposit was used unless a higher deposit was required to keep the illustrated amount of credit within the website's stated range. Summary monthly figures were rounded to the nearest pound.

The method assumes equal monthly payments and no added fee. It does not assess income, expenditure, credit history, lender criteria, vehicle eligibility or an individual's likely APR.

How publishers may use the data

Automotive and regional publications may cite these figures with a link to this page, credit to Nationwide Motor Finance and the 6 September 2026 snapshot date. Quoting the scope and methodology prevents the data being mistaken for a market-wide index.

Customers should use the results only as a shortlist and compare the full deposit, amount of credit, term, APR, total payable and running costs before enquiring.

Helpful answers

Questions about used-car affordability report: september 2026.

Is this a UK-wide vehicle price index?

No. It is a transparent snapshot of 24 vehicles advertised by one dealership on 6 September 2026.

Are the payments finance quotes?

No. They are standard website illustrations and do not predict a personal rate or approval.

Can a publication cite the report?

Yes. Credit Nationwide Motor Finance, link to this page and retain the snapshot date and scope.

Why might the live stock now be different?

Used vehicles are sold and added and advertised prices can change. The report deliberately freezes one dated snapshot.
