Information we collect and why
A short enquiry may include contact details, postcode, vehicle choice, budget and buying timeframe. A finance application also includes date of birth, address history, employment, income and stated monthly commitments. We use this information to respond, assess the initial enquiry, discuss affordability and, where the applicant has authorised it, introduce the application to a limited panel of finance providers.
The website application form does not itself perform a credit search. If a provider requires a soft or hard search, the relevant information and consent will be explained before it happens. We do not ask for online-banking passwords, payment-card details or a National Insurance number through this form.
Storage, security and retention
Complete finance applications are encrypted before being stored. A complete copy of the information entered is also delivered through our form-notification provider to the dedicated sales@nationwidemotorfinance.co.uk business mailbox, together with a private, time-limited review link. Access to both the mailbox and encrypted record should be limited to authorised staff who need the information to handle the application.
The private review link expires after 90 days. Application records and application emails should be retained only for as long as required for the application, regulatory responsibilities, complaints, fraud prevention or legal obligations, then securely deleted or anonymised under the business retention policy.
Who information may be shared with
Information may be shared with contracted website, secure storage and email-notification providers that process it for HQ Sourcing Ltd, and with a limited panel of finance providers where the applicant has authorised that sharing and it is appropriate to progress the application.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law, regulation, fraud prevention or the protection of legal rights. We do not describe the service as a whole-of-market comparison.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability of your personal information. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Some information may need to be retained where a legal or regulatory obligation applies.
