Application process

Know what happens after you send a car-finance application.

A complete form helps the team review the enquiry, but it is not an approval. The relevant provider decides after identity, credit, affordability and vehicle checks.

  • Real used cars in stock
  • Some lender decisions in seconds
  • Initial review within one working hour
  • 12.9% representative APR

Submit accurate information

Complete the form with current identity, address, employment, income and expenditure information. Inconsistent or estimated answers can delay checks and may prevent a provider from assessing the application fairly.

The Nationwide Motor Finance form sends the information to the credit-broker team. It does not itself search a credit file or make a lender decision.

02

Initial review and contact

The team reviews whether the application is complete, which vehicle or budget is being discussed and whether more information is needed. A fast response is a service aim, not a promise of approval or a fixed decision time.

Where appropriate and authorised, the application may be introduced to a limited panel of finance providers. Nationwide Motor Finance is a credit broker, not a lender.

03

Provider checks and decision

The relevant provider may verify identity, address, income, expenditure and the selected vehicle, and may use credit-reference information. The provider should explain the search and obtain the required consent before it happens.

The provider can approve, decline, ask for more evidence or offer different terms. No website wording, calculator result or initial review guarantees the outcome.

04

Review the agreement before signing

Check the deposit, amount of credit, APR, term, monthly payment, total charge for credit, total payable, fees, ownership point and consequences of missed payments. Ask for clarification before signing if any figure or condition is unclear.

The existence and nature of commission must be explained in good time before an agreement, and the amount is available on request.

Helpful answers

Questions about car finance application process.

Does submitting the form guarantee approval?

No. The relevant provider makes the final decision after its checks and affordability assessment.

Will the website search my credit file?

No. The website form itself does not search your credit file. A provider may require a search later and should explain it before consent.

How quickly will I receive a decision?

The team aims to respond promptly, but timing depends on completeness, provider checks and whether more information is required. A fixed decision time is not guaranteed.

Can the offered terms differ from the calculator?

Yes. The calculator is illustrative. The actual APR, deposit, term, fees and payment depend on the provider's assessment.
